Second, you collect and organize your important documents and place them into your Golden Box so everything can be found quickly and easily when it matters most.
What Goes Inside Your Golden Box

Fireproof Box: This is the foundation of your system. A durable fireproof box protects your most important documents from damage due to fire, water, or other emergencies. (We have a small box chosen so that just the essential documents are in the box)
Colored Hanging Folders: These help organize your documents by main categories such as Personal & Family, Financial, Household, Estate Planning, Medical, and Pet Care. (You will need to purchase 2 sets)
Colored Coded File Folders: These folders hold the individual documents within each category so paperwork stays organized, protected, and easy to access.
Color-Coded Document Pouches: These pouches are perfect for holding smaller or loose items such as receipts, certificates, photographs, or prepaid service vouchers. Each pouch is color-coded to match its corresponding folder category, keeping everything visually consistent and easy to locate. They are ideal for documents you want to keep together but separate from the main folder.
Colored File Labels: Unprinted color coded Lazer/ Ink Jet Labels. This keeps your system consistent while still allowing flexibility for personal documents and unique situations.
Key Folder and Organizer: This includes labeled keys and written instructions for access to your home, vehicles, safe deposit box, mailbox, storage unit, or any secured areas. This prevents your emergency contact from having to search for keys or guess what they belong to.
Emergency Organizer Book: This book contains instructions, account information, contacts, and step-by-step guidance for the person who will step in to help manage your affairs. It also tells them where documents are located.
It is important to note that you do not need to keep all of your documents in the Golden Box, just the important ones. You should still keep your statements etc., but they may be in your digital vault or your file cabinet. The Emergency Organizer includes a document location section so your emergency contact will know whether a document is located in the Golden Box, File Cabinet, Digital Vault, or Document Pouch. This allows you to keep original documents where you prefer, while still making sure they can be found quickly when needed.
